Auckland
A collection of photos from my home city from the past 10 months
Tongariro
The incredible Tongariro National Park. We woke up at 5.30am to start this 19km trek, which took us over mountains, volcanoes, past the Emerald Lake (unfortunately it was crazy cloudy, so couldn't see it properly). All in all, a superb 8 hour hike.
Taranaki, Bridal veil and Wilkies pools
Towards the end of the Christmas camper van trip, the explored Taranaki area, as well as Bridal Veil waterfalls and Wilkies Pools.
Coromandel
Coromandel Peninsular, roughly 2-3 hours drive east from Auckland, is a beautiful area, consisting of winding roads, waterfalls, coastal drives, little towns, hot water beaches, excellent hiking & walking routes, gorges, and the infamous Cathedral Cove.
Wellington
Known as "the coolest capital city in the world", Wellington is a city full of art, coffee, views and eateries - my kind of place.
Hobbiton, Blue Spring & Hunua Falls
A weekend spent exploring. Being a big Lord of the Rings fan, I had wanted to visit Hobbiton as soon as i knew I was coming to New Zealand - it certainly didn't disappoint! The Blue Springs of South Waikato will go as one of the most scenic spots in the north island.
Whakatane, Gisborne & Rere
Whakatane has a lot of Māori history, specifically the statue of Wairaka and Muriwai's Cave. After leaving Whakatane, I finally managed to have a go at the Rere rockslides - ridiculously good fun! The next day, we watched the sunrise at Gisborne - the first city in the world to see the new sunrise., followed by a eco reef and stingray tour.
Shine Falls and Cape Kidnappers
East side is the best side. Spent Easter weekend exploring Gisborne and Hawke's Bay - taking in the incredible Shine Falls (easily my favourite waterfall, so far) and finishing the long weekend with a 19km hike along Cape Kidnappers.
North Island
Huka Falls, Mangawhero, Tawhai, Craters of the Moon
A little trip from Huka Falls, Taupo, to around Tongariro National Park
